Refugee Integration Conference 2019: The Story of Our Journey

In an effort to engage professionals, journalists, and educators with the New American Community, we are hosting our third Refugee Integration Conference on October 9th and 10th at Ohio University’s Dublin Campus (6805 Bobcat Way, Dublin, OH 43016). This year, our theme is The Story of Our Journey. Our yearly conference is designed to provide trainings on effective advocacy, communication, and support services. We hope you join us as we share best practices, highlight upcoming projects, and discuss the needs of our communities.

Day 1 : The Story of Our Journey

Organized in partnership with Ohio University and College Liftoff, Day 1 will focus on The Story of Our Journey. As refugee resettlement and immigration become increasingly politicized, we hope to humanize the New American plight through storytelling and the dissemination of concrete, factual information. Light snacks will be provided during afternoon sessions, and heavy hors d'oeuvre will be provided during the Networking Reception.

Format for Day 1, October 9:

12:00pm - 1:00pm - Registration

5:00pm - 6:00pm - Networking Reception

6:00pm - 9:00pm - International Migration Film Festival

The film festival will feature films focusing on migration: refugees, immigrants, displaced persons, economic migrants, asylum-seekers, and/or undocumented individuals.

We are seeking film submissions in multiple categories, ranging from 5 minutes to full-length feature films and documentaries. We invite students and professionals alike to submit films before midnight on September 20, 2019.

  • Apprenticeship Programs

  • Chambers of Commerce

  • Community Colleges and Technical Schools

  • Employers and Service Providers
