Coupon Book Feature: Mallorca

Mallorca, located at 1390 W 9th St. Cleveland, is the amazing Spanish and Portuguese restaurant we will be featuring from our Holiday Fundraiser Coupon Book this Wednesday! Founded by Laurie Torres in the late ‘90s with her husband, a first-generation immigrant from Spain, Mallorca has been a premier Spanish and Portuguese restaurant in Cleveland for 24 years.

At Mallorca, you can find unique, high-end Spanish and Portuguese dishes such as Paella Valenciana (seafood casserole), Tilapia Rellena (stuffed tilapia), Ternera Marsala (veal marsala) and much more! Mallorca is also known for having some of the best seafood in the city, with an attentive and friendly staff to serve your every need.

For Laurie Torres, immigrant- and refugee-related issues are near and dear to her heart, because a large portion of her staff at Mallorca are first-generation immigrants. When asked why immigrant and refugee related issues are so important to Laurie, she responded:

“Immigrants are the most amazing people. They have a love for this country and an appreciation for what it offers since they often came from places where these freedoms and opportunities were not as prevalent. Immigrants have a work ethic that is unparalleled and a drive to make life better for themselves and their children. They have an appreciation for every opportunity and don’t squander open doors. They are loving and kind and so under-appreciated. People need to know we are all on this earth to love  one another and to grow from the experience. People coming from all over the world-no matter how they get here- make us all better for their arrival, for they bring us their knowledge of the world through their experiences that we may have never known and in doing so make us better as people and as a country. Embracing immigrants is embracing a better future for all of us.”

What really makes Mallorca special is the wonderful staff from all over the world that have been with at the restaurant for 24 years. It is Laurie and her staff’s love for each other, for the city we call home and for their Mallorca house that makes Mallorca a very special place. It’s more than just amazing food and excellent service, it’s the feeling that when you are there, you are somewhere where you are loved and appreciated for being part of the Mallorca family.
