What We Do
Welcoming City focuses on addressing a key issue: brain waste. Brain waste is a term used to describe the discrepancy between levels of immigration and the utilization of skills in the workforce. According to a recent analysis, “one out of every four college-educated immigrants works in a low-skilled industry.” This has resulted in half a billion lost in earnings and an “associated $53 million in unrealized payroll tax receipts.” Welcoming City works hard to curb the effects of brain waste on the community and economy.
