Arts and Athletics for Refugee Kids (AARK)

Located at our Toledo office, this program focuses on providing refugee children with opportunities to engage with other families and develop communications skills through fun, relaxing activities. Many children have suffered from grief and loss as a result of the trauma associated with fleeing their home country at such a young age. While living in refugee camps, children lack access to education, play, and companionship. Once they arrive in the United States, their parents are focused on finding employment, education, and proper healthcare. Consequently, refugee children lack playtime that is critical for their development. This program allows for children to play sports and engage in creative activities that are both fun and therapeutic.
