COVID-19 Updates: Statewide Mask Order, Statewide Social Gatherings Order
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that effective Thursday, July 23, 2020, at 6:00 p.m., citizens in ALL Ohio Counties will be under a mandatory mask order while out in public. Masks must be worn at all times when:
At an indoor location that is not a residence
Outdoors, but unable to maintain six-foot social distance from people who are not household members
Waiting for, riding, driving, or operating public transportation, such as a taxi, a car service, or a private car used for ride-sharing.
Further information about the mask order, including exemptions, can be found on the Governor’s website. The order does not apply to those under the age of 10. Remember: do not put a mask on a baby, it is a suffocation risk.
Health Order Enforcing Mask-Wearing in Retail Locations: on November 13, Ohio Department of Health Interim Director Lance Himes signed a health order to enforce mask-wearing in retail locations across the state in compliance with the statewide mandatory mask order signed on July 23, 2020. This order, like the previous mask order which is still in effect, requires that everyone 10 years or older must wear a mask when inside a retail location. It also requires retail locations to post signs indicating that mask-wearing is required. Further details on enforcement and exemptions to this order can be found here. The full official order can be found here.
Health Order Limiting and Prohibiting Mass Gatherings: Ohio Department of Health Interim Director Lance Himes also signed an order limiting all public and private mass gatherings to no more than 10 people. While this restriction does not apply to weddings and funerals, those events are still subject to restrictions including dancing, mask-wearing, and food preparation. Certain events are protected as free speech. The full details of that order can be found in the official document here.

What We’re Doing and How You Can Help
UST providing interpretation for the governor's briefing. Now, limited-English proficient families have access to critical information regarding COVID-19 in Ohio.
We are proud to continue providing valuable, individualized services to our communities during this unprecedented crisis. Our Communications Team has been working hard to collect information from federal, state, and local agencies such as the Center for Disease Control, the Ohio Department of Health, and the White House Communications Agency.
Additionally, we are still providing interpreting and translating services during these trying times. The ability to communicate is imperative, and we can work with requesters to provide onsite interpreters, document translations, telephonic interpreters, and video conferencing with interpreters. We are continuing to think outside of the normal parameters to help our clients and their LEP consumers maintain consistency in service.
This is a massive undertaking that requires an abundance of man power from our dedicated staff. In order to ensure the continuation of these essential services, we are asking for your support. Please consider making a donation during this time of need. To access our interpreting services, contact 614-581-4357 in Columbus and 614-581-6727 in Cleveland.
